Class 5GA
5GA
Learning Together, Respecting Each Other
Welcome to 5GA’s class page.
My name is Ms Garrity and I am the teacher of 5GA. Our learning support assistant is Ms Owoo.
Year 5 is a great year when children learn and develop so much. It is also an important year when children are expected to work hard and try their very best, to have a good attitude to learning and always be active in lessons.
In our class, we have an ethos of caring and belonging. We are keen to help each other do our best and thrive. Our main values are kindness and respect for ourselves and others.
Information for Parents
Please feel free to come and see us at the end of the day if you have any questions or would like to make an appointment to speak about your child.
PE
We have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please ensure your child has their correct kit.
READING
We love reading at Kingsley and encourage all children to read for pleasure every night. Reading is a gateway into all aspects of the curriculum. It supports the development of English fluency and writing skills. Please try and read with your child and talk about the books they enjoy. Please return books each week.
Reading Plus is a fantastic way to improve reading ages and comprehension skills. We ask children to complete at least 3 Reading Plus lessons per week for homework, though many children do much more than this!
Times Tables
Accurate and quick recall of times tables are so important to be confident in many aspects of mathematics. All children have access to Times Tables Rockstars to enable them to develop speed and accuracy. Again, please help your child with this.
Homework
By the end of each week, 5GA are expected to:
- Read at least three reading plus stories at home.
- Participate in home reading from their book bag. (preferably with parent/guardian)
- Participate in at least five TTrockstar sessions.
If you are unsure about any logins or how to access Reading Plus/TTrockstars please speak to Miss Garrity for support.
