Hello, my name is Miss Phillips and I am the lucky teacher of 5P. 5P and I have the honour of working with Ms Bouzid and Mr Paterson.
In Year 5 we are learning lots of new, exciting and challenging topics and skills. We love working together in groups and with peer support whilst also ensuring we can be independent with our learning. As with all learning, we learn best from our mistakes and celebrate ALL success!
To keep up to date with the wonderful learning in our class room you can do so by visiting this website or following us on twitter @Year5Kingsley were we get to show off what we do in class and the amazing visitors and trips we have.
Book bags go home on a Friday with a new book. When they bring them home, we encourage you to hear your children read and discuss the book. Year 5 are fantastic readers and it’s a great way to end the day. Make sure the book bags are brought in each week so that your child can get a new book to enjoy.
Homework is given out every Friday. As your child moves up the school the amount of homework will increase. This is to ensure that they practice the skills learnt in school and to get them ready for Secondary School. I encourage you to support your children with homework as much as you possibly can.
TT Rockstars is an amazing website and app that we are lucky enough to have access to. We use it in school but the children also have their usernames and password so they can continue to practice and play this at home. Times tables are important as they are building blocks for so much of Maths so try to give your child some time for TT Rockstars when you can.
5P have P.E every Thursday so make sure they have a pull P.E kits with them. Hopefully, by Year 5 the children can start taking responsibility for ensuring they have their P.E kits.
5P have swimming on a Wednesday (unless told otherwise) until the February half term. Please make sure your child has a full kit. This includes a suitable swimming costume/shorts, a swimming cap (the school has supplied each child with one), a towel and goggles (if your child requires them). Swimming is a very important part of the school curriculum so make sure your child can attend each week.
To ensure the swimming caps you have been provided with last, make sure to put talcum powder on them after each use.
Thank you for your continued support. If you ever want to speak about your child feel free to speak to me at the door of the classroom in the morning or after school. I always enjoy speaking to parents about the amazing behaviour and learning of 5P!
