Reminders:
Personal hygiene
Can we please encourage schools to ensure all children and staff are enabled to wash their hands at key points during the day, particularly prior to eating. For younger children, advice is that staff should be supervising and observing children when hand washing to ensure they are using the correct technique. Public Health have asked for reassurances that this is happening.
To support schools we can signpost to the following resources:
- Newsround have provided a good video to support children’s understanding of good hand washing techniques: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51698180
- The NHS released a couple of videos a few years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9VjeIWLnEg and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGJNspLRdrc in relation to hand washing
- E-Bug is also an excellent resource https://campaignresources.phe.gov.uk/schools which includes hand hygiene for Key Stages 1-3.
