Class 6NW
Welcome to 6NW!
Hi everyone, my name is Mr. Wright and I am going to be teaching one of the year 6 classes this year. I will be working alongside Mrs Fisher, who is a a very experienced member of our support team, to ensure that year 6 has an amazing year!
In year 6, we expect all children to be role models for all other year groups.
All pupils will be expected to work really hard throughout the year completing class work, homework and online resources. However, if you come to school ready and rearing to go, nothing will stop you from achieving wonderful things.
P.E. - Every Monday and Thursday.
P.E. kits will need to be present and correct: white top, black shorts or tracksuit bottoms and trainers.
Homework - Reading plus (the children are required to do 5 green books per week). The children will also be expected to engage with Doodlelearning where they will need to complete maths and spelling assessments set by the class teacher. many of these assignments can be completed in school, however some will need to be done at home. The class teacher will monitor your child's engagement levels.
Book Bags - Brought in Monday - Wednesday and returned back home on Friday. Children or parents need to write in their reading record what page they have read up to or when they have finished the book. Please also make a comment if you have listened to your child read. Examples can be found inside of the front cover of the home reading record.
Reading - An important part of Year 6 (and preparation for exams) is reading. Children are expected to read at home and complete their online Reading Plus - 5 books a week plus vocabulary and visual skills. Complete by Friday.
Maths - Also vital is completing our times tables on TTRS. Each child is timed on how quickly they can answer their question. The more they practise, the better they become. Year 6's focus will swing to reasoning in maths, where the children will be expected to complete online assignments at home on Doodlemaths.
After-school Clubs - a HUGE part to Year 6 is after-school clubs. We actively encourage children to take part as a way to relax but to also learn the importance of team work and providing a wide variety of new skills.
