Computing
Hello and welcome to our Computing page.
Intent
At Kingsley Community school we believe that Computing is a key part of the National Curriculum. In an ever increasing world of technology and internet access readily available our primary aim is to ensure that all of our children are equipped with the correct knowledge to stay safe online. Our pupils are taught the Online Safety curriculum and the Computing Curriculum. All of our children have access to a computing curriculum which aims to provide them with the skills and understanding to safeguard themselves when using different devices both in school and at home.
Implementation
We are very fortunate in the fact that we are able to provide our children with specialist computing lessons which are carried out by ELMS Computing Consultancy. These lessons start in year one and follow a structured sequence which build upon our children’s skills and progression. At each stage children are taught new skills within Digital Productivity (general ICT skills), Computer science (Algorithms, Coding & Programming) and Digital Creativity.
As well as sessions from ELMS our children are taught Online Safety by class teachers which start in EYFS up to year 6. They are also encouraged to use a range of technology across the curriculum. For instance, children in EYFS using BEEBOTS in mathematics and children in key stage 2 creating online quizzes using different apps.
