Welcome to5S!

Our class teacher is Ms Swain and our learning support assistant is Ms Wilson.

In 5S we are curious, hard-working and fun-loving. We always try our best and know that mistakes help us to learn. Above all, in our class we are expected to be kind and respectful to ourselves and others.

Useful things to know:

We go swimming on Monday afternoon. Children need to bring their swimming costume/shorts, a towel, a swimming cap and swimming goggles (these are optional).

P.E. is on Friday afternoon and all children need to bring a full kit to school to change in to on both days.

Our P.E. kit is a white t-shirt, black shorts or jogging bottoms and black P.E. pumps.

Homework

Homework will be sent every Friday and should be returned every Monday. It will usually consist of weekly spellings to learn and a piece of Maths homework. Completed homework will be rewarded with dojos!

Times Table Rockstars

All children have logins for Times Table Rock Stars and for Reading Plus and can access these learning sites online at home as well as in school.

TTRS is a fantastic way to improve timetables fluency.

You can compete with others, play in garage mode and check your fluency in soundcheck mode.

Please encourage your children to engage with this fantastic online learning resource. Practise makes perfect!

Reading Plus

Reading Plus is a fantastic way to improve reading ages and comprehension skills. We ask children to complete at least 5 Reading Plus lessons per week for homework, though many children do much more than this!

Reading Books

Reading books will be changed on a weekly basis. Children should take their books home at the end of the school day and return them at the beginning of the next so that they always have the opportunity to read. A new reading book will be provided on a weekly basis although children are welcome to choose one sooner if they finish their book.
