Blue Room
Welcome to Blue Room!
Blue room is our two year old provision that supports your child from the starting point of their education right up to preparing them for school life and beyond.
Our room is led by Miss Jo and we have our fun loving LSA who help us to learn - Miss Karolina.
In Blue Room we love to learn through play and experiences as this is the best way for our little minds to grow and learn how to figure things out for ourselves.
To begin with we concentrate mainly on the three prime areas-
- communication and language
- personal, social and emotional development
- physical development
Working on the above areas supports us within the other four specific areas and as we grow in confidence in nursery we begin to also work on these-
- literacy
- mathematics
- understanding the world
- expressive arts and design
We ask all parents to please provide us with a change of underwear and clothes (also nappies and wipes if your child still needs these) that can be kept in school. These things go into your childs nappy box which stays in the changing room and has their picture on it, ensuring no-one else uses them.
Your child will also bring home a 'book' bag each Friday to be shared together at home, we encourage you to make a note in their reading log to let us know if they enjoyed the story and to make any comments about discussions you may have had following the book. Book bags must be returned by Thursday for us to be able to change your child's book so you have a new one ready to share for the weekend.
While in Blue Room we learn so many valuable skills that will help make our journey through school and life so much easier but we also have lots of messy fun along the way!
Throughout the year we will cover and explore a range of topics. We will also learn all about each others families, homes, cultures and celebrations which are all very important to us in Blue Room.
Things you need to know
We provide children with a small snack during the session. Please ensure your child has had breakfast/lunch so they are not hungry. Please inform us of any allergies your child may have. We would like your child to have contstant access to water therefore a water bottle would be appreciated that can stay in Blue Room.
What should my child wear?
Children in Blue room will get messy! We play with water, mud and sand as well as other sensory resources so please ensure your child wears joggers/shorts or leggings along with an appropriate top depending on the weather, so that they can fully engage in these types of activities in both the indoors and outdoors learning time.
ALWAYS send your child to school with a coat. In Winter and on those colder days, please make sure that your child comes into school with a warm coat, preferably a waterproof one so that they can keep dry whilst playing outside in the cold and wet weather.
Change of clothes – Please bring in a spare set of clothes and underwear so that we can change your children’s clothes if needed.
Footwear
Trainers and outdoor shoes (crocs or such like) are THE BEST footwear for your child to wear in school as they will allow your child to move and play whilst protecting their feet.
We have wellies for children to change into if we want to splash in puddles or play in the mud.
Hat and gloves
For the cold months and a hat/cap for the warm months to help keep our heads protected no matter what the weather.
Book bags and reading books
Please bring your child’s reading book and book bag in by Thursday. We will change your books and record what you have read and issue your child with a new book to take home each Friday. We provide library books were you can look at the pictures or read the story to your child.
