Hello! Welcome to Red Rooms Nursery page.
Our nursery is led by our teacher, Mrs. Carpen-Juckes. We are also very lucky to have lots of wonderful Learning Support Assistants, Mrs. Hughes, Miss. Lendon, Ms. Moore, Mrs. Leftka and Mrs. Bickerstaff who all help our learning to be fun, exciting and engaging.
In nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We are very lucky in
Red room as we have a very big indoors and outdoors learning environment along with our school playing field, which we can access anytime no matter what the weather is like! Every Wednesday we also attend our Forest school. Our learning spaces allow us to explore, discover and learn together through play which we really enjoy because it is fun and exciting!
Throughout the year we will explore a broad spectrum of topics; All about ourselves, seasons and change, people who help us, dinosaurs, animals and Mini beasts to name a few. We also learn all about each other’s families, home life, cultures and celebrations, which are all very important to us in Red room.
We have an open door policy and Mrs. Carpen-Juckes will always be on the door at the beginning and end of each session, so please do not hesitate to come and speak to us about any questions or concerns that you may have or even just for a friendly catch up!
Things you need to know
What should my child wear?
Children in Red room will get messy! We play with water, mud and sand and other sensory resources so please dress your child appropriately so that they can fully engage in these types of activities for both the indoors and outdoors learning time. Tracksuits are a great form of clothing for your child to wear as they are comfortable and will not restrict your child’s movement during play. Children should also be dressed with the weather and outdoors environment in mind; ALWAYS send your child to school with a coat. Please make sure that your child comes into school with a warm coat, preferably a waterproof one so that they can keep dry whilst playing outside in the cold and rain.
Change of clothes – Please bring in a spare set of clothes and underwear so that we can change your children’s clothes if needed.
It is really important that your child has a set of wellington boots in school. This is so they have suitable footwear for playing out in the sand, rain and mud!
Trainers and outdoor shoes are THE BEST footwear for your child to wear in school as they will allow your child to move and play whilst protecting their feet.
Hat and gloves
For the cold months and a hat/cap for the warm months to help keep our heads cool.
Forest school – Every Wednesday
We love Forest School! Please make sure that your child comes into school wearing suitable clothing; Warm trousers and Sweatshirts are ideal.
Book bags and reading books
Please bring your child’s reading book and book bag in for the Friday session. We will change your books and record what you have read and issue your child with a new book to take home on the Following Tuesday. The books that you will receive are WORDLESS books. These books are a wonderful tool to help you support your child when telling the story of what they can see and what they think is happening. Please sit with your child and read the book with them.
