Class 4C
Welcome to 4C J
Learning Together, Respecting Each Other
Our teacher is Ms Catchpole and on Mondays we are taught by Mr Harrison. Our Learning Support Assistant is Mr Molyneux.
Year 4 pupils are expected to work really hard throughout the year completing class work, homework and online resources. Here in year 4 we are encouraged to make mistakes and celebrate our mistakes throughout our learning because we know that we learn from our them. We adopt a ‘Have a go’ attitude. This attitude learning will help us achieve our goals.
Key information –
PE
Every Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child has the correct kit.
Times Tables
Times tables is an important part to the Year 4’s curriculum. It is a statutory requirement that all children in Year 4 are fluent in their recall of their multiplications up to 12x12. We work hard to practise our times tables through fun and engaging ways. We love to play games, listen to songs as well as have weekly quizzes. It is vitally important that the children practise weekly so that they are prepared for the Multiplication Times Tables Check (Summer Term)
Times Tables Rockstars (TTRS) is a fantastic way to improve timetables fluency.
You can compete with others, focus on targets and check your speed in soundcheck mode.
Please encourage your children to engage with this fantastic online learning resource. Practise makes perfect!
Reading- Daily
We love reading at Kingsley and encourage all children to read for pleasure every night. Reading is a gateway into all aspects of the curriculum. It supports the development of English fluency and writing skills.
Reading Plus is a fantastic way to improve reading ages and comprehension skills. We ask children to complete at least 3 Reading Plus lessons per week for homework, though many children do much more than this!
Book Bags - Please return books each week.
Please try and read with your child and talk about the books they enjoy. Whilst we encourage reading at home as much as possible, we will regularly change the books to ensure children are reading a wide range of texts/genres.
*We ask all parents/carers to listen to their children read and make a comment in the blue home reading log.
After School Clubs
We encourage children to take part in all our after school club activities as a way to relax but to also learn the importance of team work and providing a wide variety of new skills.
Our staff work hard to provide a broad range of extra curricular activities. Our aim is to ensure all children have an opportunity to attend some of our exciting after school clubs we have to offer here at Kingsley.
