Reading For Pleasure
Reading for pleasure is at the heart of everything we do and is a whole school priority. At Kingsley, all staff actively encourage a love of reading and celebrate its importance within our school. Each classroom has a well thought out reading area where the children can sit and read or browse the selection of books available for them to take home. Recently we have diversified our bookshelves to ensure that all of our children are well represented in the books around school. Adults make recommendations to the children in their class based on their own reading and spend time in the school day reading to and enjoying a book with the children. Children are able to request books and budget is allocated for teachers to purchase books as requested by the children in their class.
The recently built reading pavilion in the playground has provided the children with a cosy outdoors space in which they can sit and enjoy a good book at playtime and lunchtime.
