Y6 parents meeting for Secondary school applications
Head Teacher: Mrs A Whittaker
3rd September 2026
Meeting About Secondary Schools.
Dear Parent/Carer of pupils in Year 6,
I am writing with regard to the primary school to secondary school transfer procedure for September 2026. I hope everyone has been giving this matter some thought and that you have read the information booklet from the council that was sent home in July. Its quite early in the term, but I know how important it is to get this choice right!
Those of you who are interested in selective schools should have checked out their websites, made visits and made any arrangements you need to for exams. These arrangements change every year and you will need to contact the school itself to find out how they are arranging admissions. This is particularly important for :
Bellerive St Hilda’s
Belvedere St Margret’s
Blue Coat King David
Liverpool College Archbishop Blanche
Other schools are community schools and you will apply through the local authority for them.
Further information on how to apply and the wider admissions process can be found online through the Liverpool City Council website at www.liverpool.gov.uk/admissions
We will be holding a meeting on Wednesday 10th September at 9.10am .
This will help guide you through the application process and give our advice based on past experiences. Please make every effort to attend, as every year we find families who don’t seek advice from us whose children do not get their choice of school.
It is really important that you attend this meeting this week, otherwise it’s very difficult for us to help you later in the process. We have children every year who do not get a school because parents do not follow the process smartly! Please do not be one of those parents!
We will also have staff on hand this term to help you, and you can make an appointment for this via the main school office. If you can’t attend the meeting for any reason, please make sure you book an appointment to get advice from Mrs Ahmed or Ms Yafai, before you send off paperwork in October.
I look forward to seeing you on the 10th.
Kind regards,
Alison Whittaker, Head Teacher.
