PSHE at Kingsley Primary School
At Kingsley Primary School, through our ethos of "Learning Together, Respecting Each Other", we aim to develop children's personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education by ensuring that our PSHE curriculum provides strong opportunities for learning about today's world and how to manage feelings, relationships, and choices to maintain a balanced life and lifestyle.
Our aim is to promote the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental, and physical development of pupils at our school and in society, while fostering a clear understanding of economic wellbeing. We prepare our pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of later life through a carefully structured spiral curriculum.
Our curriculum is fully aligned with the statutory Department for Education (DfE) guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) and the PSHE Association Programme of Study. Learning is age-appropriately sequenced across all year groups so that knowledge builds progressively over time, allowing children to revisit core concepts in greater depth as they mature.
Preventative education is at the heart of our provision. We proactively promote children's understanding of current issues that are relevant to PSHE through safe classroom discussions, critical thinking opportunities, and guided exploration.
Our curriculum is designed to help pupils make sense of the difficulties and challenges they may face, keeping them safe both online and offline. By embedding age-appropriate themes on mental wellbeing, personal safety, online resilience, and healthy relationships, we equip pupils with the practical strategies and vocabulary they need to seek help and navigate modern life with confidence.

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
Our curriculum is fully compliant with the statutory guidance. Please see sections #65 and #66 (Relationships Education, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education). After discussions with stakeholders, we choose to teach sex education through our Science curriculum so there is no right to withdraw your child from these lessons.
