COVID GUIDELINES UPDATE:
From 1st April the Government have further relaxed guidelines around Covid.
I wanted to make sure we clarify what we will continue to expect parents and carers to support us with from now on.
The Government have removed access for testing for most people. However it will still be really important to try and reduce any spread of Covid, both for the health of our community, and for us as a school, in order to limit the number of staff who may get ill and be off work, as this creates difficulties for everyone.
From 1st April:
If your child is unwell and has a HIGH TEMPERATURE ( above 38 degrees, or hot to the touch on their body- not forehead) then they should stay off school until they do not have a high temperature and are well again.
If your child does not have a high temperature, then they can attend as long as you feel they are well enough, as they would normally. It seems likely that there will be peaks in the virus in the general population again, and possibly testing will be reintroduced, but for now it has been removed.
We have been quite concerned about pupil attendance this year, and want to do our utmost to make sure children are in school, learning and socialising with their pers. However, I think it is sensible to still exercise some caution, and I want to thank you all for your continued support in this matter.
Kind regards,
Alison Whittaker,

Ramadan Arrangements.
Dear Parents/ Carers,
As we approach a special time of year for many of our families and pupils, we would like to let you know our arrangements for Ramadan.
We know that many of our pupils like to join in with many of the activities that they see their parents and older siblings doing. One such activity is taking part in the fast.
In the past we have allowed a small number of older pupils in school to fast during the school day. A very small number of year 6 pupils, who have reached puberty, have been supported to fast or part fast on certain days. This is due to quite carefully considered safety reasons and particularly as not drinking during the day can cause many problems with concentration, energy levels, and with being able to join in all of their learning..
We will be able to offer year 6 pupils our support to fast this year, should they want to. These pupils will need to bring in a letter, signed by their parent or carer which gives permission for them to fast during the school day. Y6 pupils who fast will only be able to do this on a day that they do not have a PE lesson. On these days children will NOT be able to fast.
Please talk to your child about this and let them know that for younger children it is very problematic for us to support fasting in school. I know that many pupils are able to feel that they are taking part, by part fasting, either during the evening or at weekends, under your supervision.
We are also planning to host our last inset day of the year to coincide with Eid if we can. This is likely to be around the May bank holiday weekend, but I will confirm as soon as I can! In addition we are planning an extra special Eid Party on the yard this year on the 6th May. I will send more details nearer the time.
We really appreciate your help in this matter.
Kind regards,
Mrs Whittaker

Dear Parents, 30th March 2022
Is it just me, or is the year really flying by? I can’t believe we are nearly ready for Easter holidays. School has been so busy this term, with most things now steadily getting back to normal. This has made us all feel much more positive, and the great weather has helped to!
In terms of Covid, we are still operating a risk assessment in school, even though in the rest of the world things seem to have gone completely back to normal! This has meant we still keep some year groups separate, and we haven’t had the whole school back together for assemblies yet. I hope we will get back to this in April. As I told you last time, we have had real challenges with staffing this term, and I know of several schools whose staff have been hit so badly they have had temporary closures. We have managed fairly well here, everyone has mucked in and been really flexible which has helped us no end. It is also a help that you have all supported the school by keeping your children at home when they have been ill. This is a fine line- we don’t want children to be at home unless they really have to be, as their good attendance is so vital to their progress, as well as their well being and social skills. Good attendance is something we are going to really focus on again after Easter.
On this note, you will see that there is a list of dates for next academic year on the reverse of this letter. We still have 3 inset days to add, which have not been decided yet. Please can I remind you that these holidays should be plenty enough for you to take your family holiday during the time school is closed. We have been terribly affected by pupils being absent from school this year due to family holidays. It may be tempting, but it really is to the detriment of the child’s education and is never authorised by school.
Our new website has finally launched! It is still being filled on a daily basis, and our twitter feed needs to be linked, but otherwise it is looking much more useful than the old one. Please take the time to check it out at:
www.kingsley.liverpool.sch.uk or follow us on Twitter at @KingsleyLpool
Finally, I have attached some other dates for your diary below:
End of Spring term- Friday 8th April 12.30pm
(Please note there are NO Nursery sessions in the morning or afternoon on the 8th)
Children return to school - Monday 25th April
Eid Party- More details to follow! Friday 6th May
Jubilee Party- More details also to follow! Friday 27th May
Half Term- school closed- 30th May- 3rd June.
We have a final inset day to arrange for this year, which we usually have to coincide with Eid. Once I have confirmed this date I will let you know, but it will be around the May holiday weekend.
Kind regards,
Mrs A. Whittaker (Head Teacher)
