Class 3H
Welcome to 3H!
In 3H we have 19 superstars and 3 amazing adults. Our class teacher is Mrs Hunter and our learning support assistants are Ms Niven and Ms Ahmed.
In 3H we work really hard and are keen to help each other to do our best. We always try our best to be resilient and have a go at challenges. In our class we are kind and respectful to each other.
Useful information for parents:
P.E.
We have P.E. on Wednesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child has their full kit for both days. They must have suitable shoes for P.E, a white t-shirt and black leggings, shorts or bottoms.
Homework
A list of spellings and handwriting is given out every Friday. We will have a spelling test each week. These spellings are on the Year 3/4 spelling list and are really important for your child to know.
It is also important for your child to keep up with reading and times tables at home. There is a list of websites shown below which are fun and engaging.
Reading
In 3H we know reading is so important. We read a class novel at the end of each day, which the children love. We encourage children to read for pleasure at home every night. We love using our reading corner and voting for books every week to read. Listening to your child at home every night will really help children to improve their reading skills but also encourage them to have a love for reading. Book bags should be brought into school every day, even if the book is not finish so the adults in school can read with your child.
Maths
We should all be able to count in 2's, 5's and 10's, but now in year 3 we are also practicing counting in 4's and 8's. If you could help your child with this each night that would be really helpful. In maths we start off the year by going back to place value and really understanding numbers and methods. Throughout Year 3, we will learn new methods for the four operations, learn about statistics, shape and many more exciting things. Every Thursday we have a reasoning and problem solving lesson, where we learn to explain how we got to an answer and on Friday's we have arithmetic.
Writing
Writing is always an aim in Kingsley and in Year 3, we have some exciting pieces of writing to create. From news articles to stories we cover it all. In Year 3, it is really important that children can write using the basic skills of capital letters and full stops but they will also start to use amazing vocabulary and a variety of punctuation. Our first book of the year is:
Topic
To start Year 3, we are learning about the Stone age, up until the Iron age. This is a really fascinating topic which children love to learn. We have some fantastic books and artefacts in our classroom so the children can research this period of time themselves.
We are a team
In 3H it is really important to be part of a team. That means looking after each other and also ourselves. At Kingsley we follow the roar rainbow and we use this everyday to help share our feelings and emotions with each other. We want to spread kindness, joy and make sure we know how to express ourselves.
If you have any other questions or queries any of the Year 3 adults are happy to help
